Our Loved Uncle Danny went home to be with JESUS. We are so sad by our loss, but pray that many come to know the Savior through his life. Uncle Danny (pictured above with his mom, Nanny Sue) was truly an incredible man. Here are a few things we all said about him when asked to write for the services which will be held wed-friday. Please pray for our family during this difficult time. Thank you!

Uncle Danny will always be a special part of our memories and lives. We value the wonderful legacy he has left for us all. He was an amazing example of the LOVE that JESUS calls us to have for each other. We cherish the remarkable times we were blessed to share with Uncle Dan. Most of all we are thankful for the gentle reminder that there is HOPE when you have a personal relationship with JESUS. We pray all will follow the example of Uncle Danny and choose a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST. We can’t wait to see him again in HEAVEN!!!
WE LOVE him SO VERY MUCH!

Jesus said to him,
“I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE, no one come to the Father except through me.”

Dan,
Someone once said that we "need to share the Gospel with as many people as we come in contact with; and when necessary use words." Others have said that we may be the only "Bible" that certain people in front of us will ever read. With respect to both of these sayings, God is now telling you buddy, "Well done good and faithful servant."
You have been a bright and shining light for the Lord. From the beginning of my memories Dan, we were together, sharing early Christmas gifts like our first "Mini-bike", sharing the same room, walks, and then rides to school, competing in the back yard as we lined up across the ball from each other trying to impress Ron and Billy with our one on one drills, special times of praying together before every Cougar football game for two years on the steps of St. Mel's altar, going on first dates together and so much more as we grew up. Even after I went into the Navy, Peggy and I looked forward to being at your games and watching you knock opponents on their butts, and then putting your hand out to help them up again and again. I remember celebrating the awards you received because they were so deserved.
Wherever you played, from Norco to San Jacinto to Boise; and then wherever you coached (and that's a little harder to name) every moment I got to spend with you made it obvious to me that I was in the presence of someone very special. You were special enough to silently lead by the way you lived, and special enough to keep me out of some trouble and pray me through other trials. Thank you Dan for treating our children with so much love every time they were around you as well, they knew that it was a genuine hug, and a smile that communicated that they were really important to you. You allowed Jesus to shine out of your life, even in the toughest of times. I think it is only fitting that with that much Jesus shining out of you, that we include some scripture in describing who you really were.
(Matt 5:14-16) "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
There are so many people that you touched Dan and we will forever be grateful to God for allowing you 50 years with us. I am committed to having the memories that you have given us never be without the most important legacy of your life; and that is You were a lover of God! Nobody will ever question all that you were, and all that you have done with regard to always being Christ-like. Many will remember you as a great football coach, and you were. But I'll remember you as much more than that-you were a "Great Man of God" who allowed Him to use you as His instrument to impact many lives!
In the last couple of years we got to spend some great times and I thank God for all those. You made me feel so special when you rang my phone before every game, asking me to come up and pray for you before going to on the field or up to the booth. Even though I'm sure those times, except maybe the Wisconsin game, were more for me than for you, I'll cherish them forever. But that is how you lived your whole life. You always thought of everyone else. I still can't believe that I had to leave the field in the overtime at Texas A&M to get home to teach the next day, but David will never let me live that down so don't worry. Our times of sitting in your room, while Mindy was out looking for crosses, or meeting you for breakfast to get the heads up on whom to look out for on the opponent's team, almost made me able to talk like a coach. Dan you were the best, God always asks for the best from us, and He got him when he called you home. Thank You Jesus for allowing Dan to be such an example to all of us, especially in these last couple of years! Dan, enjoy your time with Dad and we'll see you both soon!
This was the first devotion I did after your going to be with the Lord, thought I would finish my note with it.
(2 Tim 4:6-8) For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Danny exemplified better then any the words that Paul uttered when he knew that he was facing death. "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand" Dan knew that he was going to be with the Lord; he even spoke of it openly as the Apostle Paul did; and he was confident of what that meant because he lived his life with respect toward "Almighty God": "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" you see Paul understood as Danny did that the fight wasn't against death; it was against loosing faith; while facing death! A normal reaction at this time is to question God, even be mad a God, but neither Paul nor Danny had that attitude. Instead, they both knew that eternity with God was always the goal; "Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day" Danny Brown was great at everything he did; but not near as great as he is today, and the message that I believe he would want to send to all of us is the same message that Paul wanted to convey to those he loved; "And not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing" one day those that put their trust in Jesus Christ will be with Danny again, only this time it will be in heaven for all of eternity; as well as being with all of our other loved ones that went before us. I told Dan one of the nights that we were together; that I knew why God was taking him first:
#1) It would be proof that he was always Dad's pet,
#2) Even more than that, "Dan was the most ready to go"!
The Gerard Coury Brown family will forever be thankful to God for allowing you to be such a special part of our lives!
God Bless! Ger

When I think of Dan Brown I think of a man with Integrity…
a man that did not follow the crowd to be what he was or who he was. Dan Brown was who He was because of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ…He truly was a man after Gods own heart…and that is what made Dan Brown a great son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, football coach and great brother in law
We will continue to look up to him and the great example he left for all of us for many, many years to come. I will deeply miss him.May deepest sympathy, and prayers, to Mom, Mindy, Korrissa, Tara, Larry, Eric, Travis, Jordan, and the entire family.
Love always, Peggy

Uncle Dan…My role Model…My name Sake,
I say my role model because when I walked into a room he would make me feel as if I was the most important person in the world. Uncle Dan was one of the best examples of what God has called us to be, and I will do my best to follow his example. He will be greatly missed, and I am determined that his name will live on for JESUS.
